Last week, as he delivered his final State of the State address, Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin announced a mentoring partnership with GLOBALFOUNDRIES. In partnership with select universities and colleges in Vermont, the Governor’s Step Up Program will provide support services and a free semester of courses to help low-income and first generation students to invest in an education. As part of this program, he has asked GF to provide mentoring support to Step Up students. This mentoring will include soft skills such as communication, resume writing, interviewing, and effective team participation. While still in its formative stages, the mentoring program aligns with GF’s corporate philosophy and will become an extension of our strategic education and workforce development initiatives. Mike Russo and Kimberly Finnigan from our corporate government relations team were on hand for the announcement and are pictured here, flanking the governor.
